Mother mistakes shower gel for olive oil while cooking chicken

An unfortunate incident involving a mother while cooking left her dinner too soapy.

In a viral TikTok video from April 3, Kameron Jane exposed her mother for making a kitchen mistake that ruined what was supposed to be a delicious meal. “You’ll never believe what my mom accidentally did to dinner,” the TikTok musician said.

“Okay, I feel terrible, look what my poor mother did. She just cooked this delicious meal,” Jane continued, panning over the ruined Tuscan chicken on the stove.

The simmering dish consisted of creamy parmesan sauce, spinach and plump cherry tomatoes. Looking at it, you wouldn’t think it was spoiled.

According to the TikToker, her mother was eager to cook after purchasing a new bottle of “pure Greek olive oil,” or what she thought was oil.

“It was only when we finished that we discovered it was shower gel,” the user confessed on social media.

The bottle of Korres Pure Greek Olive Blossom shower gel contained a yellow liquid, just like cooking oil. On the outer label, the word “Olive” was bold, enlarged and in capital letters. Although the mistake was understandable given the packaging, Jane’s mother was upset.

“She just had to leave the room because she was so angry,” Jane explained before her mother later admitted: “I want to physically hurt someone and hit something really hard.”

The brave daughter, who wanted to test whether the foamy taste was subtle enough to eat, took a bite of the chicken and immediately spat it out. Jane exclaimed, “This chicken tastes like pure soap.”

Speaking to TodayA spokesperson for Korres said they empathized with the mistake. “We truly feel this mother’s pain when she realized something had gone wrong with a dish she had worked hard to prepare. We’ve all been there,” the rep admitted.

In an effort to remedy the situation and prevent further confusion, Korres notified its design team and retailers to ensure the product was placed in the correct department. Additionally, the company sent Jane’s mother a box filled with its products and Bristol Trading Company cooking oils, vinegars, and olives.

The original video has been viewed more than 14.6 million times, garnered 1.5 million likes and over 21,000 comments. TikTok users were both amused and empathetic.

“In their defense, this looks absolutely like olive oil,” one supporter wrote.

Another commented: “The soapy chicken looked really good too. I’m furious with her.”

“That’s the cleanest Tuscan chicken I’ve ever seen,” joked a third, while another added: “Oh I’d need no one to talk to me for about an hour if that happened to me.”
