Onana was not happy at all.

Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana hilariously snapped at a journalist who called him ‘Andre’ after Belgium’s Euro 2024 opener against Slovakia.

Slovakia recorded a historic victory in their first group stage match of the tournament at the expense of Belgium, and Belgium were unable to come back after an early goal from Ivan Schranz.

Belgium had twice found the back of the net through Romelu Lukaku, but VAR intervened on both occasions to rule out their hits using never-before-seen ball technology to rule out the second.

Despite the defeat, Everton midfielder Onana was one of the standout players for the Group E favorites, winning more duels than anyone else on the field.

Onana thought he had helped Belgium equalize when Lukaku deflected his cross-shot over the line before VAR intervened.

The 22-year-old has become a key man in the Belgian midfield in recent years, although he is not always Sean Dyche’s favorite at Everton.

After the disappointing result, Onana headed to the mixed zone where he answered questions from journalists, but was not very impressed when a journalist addressed him as “Andre” after his time.

The Belgian midfielder instantly switched from French to correct the British journalist with a brutal response that would have been very humiliating.

“Andre isn’t even my teammate by name,” the midfielder responded with a comically impressive English accent.

Despite the clear lack of professionalism in mispronouncing his name, Onana took the time to answer the journalist’s questions.

Onana is a highly sought-after player this summer with Arsenal interested as Everton are expected to cash in on their most valuable assets.

Liverpool Echo Everton correspondent Joe Thomas confirmed Arsenal’s interest on social media: “New: Arsenal have inquired about the availability of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. More to follow.”

Onana himself has made no secret of his desire to leave Goodison Park, speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, according to The Standard before the tournament: “In previous tournaments, you have seen players who did well make the step up to the top clubs. That’s something I strive for.

“I look forward to presenting myself at the top of Europe and showing what I have to offer. “This Eurocup is a stage.”
