Jamie Lee Curtis mistakenly takes a photo of Palestinian children in a post supporting Israel

Jamie Lee Curtis mistakenly used a photograph of Palestinian children fleeing bombs to show support for Israel amid its recent declaration of war in the region.

On Saturday, Curtis shared a series of posts supporting Israel’s response to coordinated attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas earlier that day.

One post included an image of children cowering in fear along with an Israeli flag emoji and a caption that read: “Terror from the skies.”

Curtis seemed oblivious to the details of the photograph, which was taken at a Palestinian school in the northern Gaza Strip.

Although he tagged freelance photographer Samar Abu Elouf in his post, the “Halloween” actor overlooked the fact that Elouf clearly said the photo showed young Palestinians seeking shelter from Israeli bombs.

Curtis responded to the backlash in a statement from his reps to HuffPost, saying, “I deleted the post when I realized my mistake. The other post is a new post by Guy Oseary. “It is a terrible situation for all the innocent people who find themselves in the line of fire.”

After Hamas breached Israel’s borders with a multifaceted attack on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government responded by launching airstrikes on nearby Palestinian settlements, according to an Al Jazeera reporter in Gaza.

The outlet reports that more than 1,000 people have been killed in the fighting, including 413 Palestinians.

While some media outlets have described the Hamas attacks as unprovoked and unprecedented, experts and Palestinian liberation supporters familiar with the region say the attacks are a reaction to the Israeli government’s decades-long apartheid against Palestinians.

“This war did not start this morning. This has been going on for decades,” said Nathan Thrall, writer and Israel-Palestine expert. published in Xformerly Twitter.

“Today’s bloodshed is the tip of an iceberg: an iceberg of state violence and ethnic subjugation. Blood will continue to be shed as long as we ignore the root causes.”
