Home and Away’s Tane Parata will make a huge mistake in the baby storyline

The following contains spoilers for episodes of Home and Away airing in Australia in a few weeks in the UK.

Home and Away’s Tane Parata is set to suffer a major setback in the baby storyline this week.

Tane recently found a baby in a bag on the beach and, after refusing to part with her at the hospital, announced his decision to try to become the primary caregiver for the little girl, whom he nicknamed Maia.

In scenes set to air this week (via TV Week), Harper turns up at the hospital and hands Tane the day’s newspaper and apologises. When he opens it, he learns that an article has been written about him, in which he is said to be “obsessed” with the boy.

It turns out Harper’s sister Dana was tricked by a reporter into answering questions and her words were included in this scathing article.

With his character under attack, plus all the pressure from the baby’s health, Tane is understandably nervous. But when the same journalist shows up at the hospital and seeks to expand on the story, Tane’s temper gets the better of him and he lashes out.

He gets the journalist to leave, but not before receiving a formal complaint.

Will that lead to even more negative stories about him and prevent him from becoming Maia’s caretaker?

Tane’s friends have already expressed their concern for him, fearing that he is devoting all his time to this baby in order to get over the end of his marriage.

Tane actor Ethan Browne said: “He’s trying to figure out what to do with himself, but he’s doing really well and the future looks bright.

“He wants the best for this baby and to make sure she is placed in a home and given the proper care. He can’t help but feel responsible for her, just as he found her.”
