Here’s Why Kyle Is Making A Huge Mistake On The Young And The Restless On July 10

The July 10 episode of The Young and the Restless We saw Kyle and Summer go deeper into their argument over Harrison’s custody. During their clashes, Kyle mentioned that he would win because Summer wasn’t even Harrison’s biological mother, which seemed like a low blow. Ultimately, Kyle’s behavior is a mistake. (Check out these other questions we have about Y&R.)

Playing with fire

Yes, we all know that Tara Locke (Elizabeth Lenier) is Harrison’s (Redding Munsell) biological mother. Of course, she’s now in prison on some pretty dubious charges by Genoa City standards, at least. Tara returning to the city would be a big deal, but if that’s not going to happen, then it seems like Kyle might be making a mistake when he shouldn’t.

Summer (Allison Lanier) appears to have some legal rights over Harrison — or there’s no way she’s threatening lawyers. At least, we assume she does. Sure, being a Newman might give her an exaggerated idea of what she can and can’t do, but she does seem to have some sort of parental rights over Harrison that go beyond Kyle (Michael Mealor) allowing him to stay in her life.

Kyle is in the midst of a destructive pattern, and Summer is right to be concerned. She was right to point out how selfish Kyle is. He’s been fired from the family business, he’s suddenly decided to move without telling her, and he insisted on hiring Claire (Hayley Erin) against her wishes. Of course, Summer should also consider listening to Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and trying to put in a little more effort to co-parent with Kyle before calling in the lawyers.

Ultimately, this fight between Kyle and Summer is not what’s best for Harrison. Kyle is making a number of mistakes right now, and not trying harder to keep Summer involved in his decisions about Harrison is one of the biggest. Presumably, in the eyes of the law, Summer is (and should be) an equal parent.
