$20 million Powerball winner’s ‘lucky’ mistake after giving up on lottery

A newly minted Powerball billionaire admits she almost didn’t play her favorite numbers this week because they hadn’t been going well for her lately, and only decided at the last minute to stick with them, resulting in her winning $20 million in Thursday night’s drawing.

The woman from the rural town of Gladstone in New South Wales played the same numbers she has always used, which consist of her loved ones’ birthdays, and was the sole division one entrant in draw 1455, scooping the entire jackpot.

“You know what? I was going to get rid of that ticket because I haven’t won anything lately,” he told The Lott officials. “They’re the same numbers I’ve been playing over and over for a long time. I’ve been putting them in every week, but recently I thought I might get rid of them altogether.”

The winner is now in “fairyland” after thinking she had only won $20,000

He decided to save the numbers for “another week” in the hope of getting “lucky” and the decision paid off.

“I woke up this morning and checked my ticket. I looked at it and ran to my family and said, ‘I won $20,000! ‘ They looked at it and then looked at me and said, ‘No, you didn’t win it. You won $20 million! ‘”

“I can’t believe it. I think I’m in fairyland,” she said.

She plans to buy a house and also “travel the world” with her loved ones, admitting that she had been dreaming of receiving a call like this for years.

The winning Powerball numbers drawn on Thursday were 7, 20, 19, 25, 10, 31 and 1 and the Powerball number was 11.
