Dave Portnoy has revealed the mistake he will never make again after getting lost at sea off Nantucket Island.

The Barstool Sports founder detailed in a video shared on X how he had to be rescued by the Coast Guard after his boat was adrift at sea “with no power, no radio, no anchor, nothing.”

And from now on, Portnoy will make sure to do one very important thing when he unlocks his boat from the buoys.

“A lot of people were like, ‘Rookie move, the first thing you do is turn the boat on before you untie it,'” she said on her BFFs podcast.

“But Captain Dave will never make that mistake again. I’ll get the boat moving before I let go.”

Portnoy wasn’t quite sure whether he knowingly untied the boat or whether the buoys broke, saying there was some “he said, she said” about it.

However, he admitted that the incident was “scary” as he was “probably drifting for an hour”.

Portnoy said it was only his third time on the boat, and described himself as “not some crazy boat guy.”

He added that he sent a “strong” text message to the people who sold him the boat.

Portnoy said Monday that she lit a distress flare before a woman boarded her boat to help her.

Dave Portnoy thanked the Coast Guard for saving his life when he was adrift at sea.

He managed to contact the Coast Guard and help bring the media mogul to safety.

“Captain Dave had to be halfway to the fucking Caribbean,” he said in the video.

He added earlier: “His boys nearly lost Captain Dave today.”

Portnoy had planned to take his parents for a boat ride before things got worse.
