Emmerdale fans were quick to point out Rose Jackson’s obvious mistake on Friday night after her sinister drink-spiking plan backfired.

Rose, Will Taylor’s ex-wife and mother of Dawn Taylor, turned up in the village earlier this year and was soon revealed to be working with Ruby Fox-Milligan in a bid to bring down Will’s new wife Kim Tate. Earlier this week, Ruby continued to pressure Rose into carrying out her sinister plan and met with a dealer, who handed her a bottle of tranquillisers, on the outskirts of the village.

As Rose bonded with her estranged daughter Dawn, it was clear that she was having second thoughts about her sinister plan to drug Will in order to ruin his marriage to Kim, but despite feeling conflicted, she went ahead with it. Rose had intended to attack her ex-husband Will by spiking his drink with the tranquilizer, but in true soap opera style, just as she poured him a drink, Dawn and Kim returned home with more drinks served. Rose lost track of which drink was drugged as she began to panic.

At first, it seemed that Will had drank the drink because he suddenly felt unwell, but after a nap he felt fine again. However, it was later revealed that the real victim was Dawn, after she was involved in a horrific car accident, where Ella Forster was also injured. Dawn, who previously struggled with drug addiction, promised her family that she had not relapsed and expressed her fears that she had been injected with drugs.

Later, back at Home Farm, Dawn held a family meeting where she revealed that she knew she had been injected with drugs, pointing out that the only drink she drank was the one she drank at home. Dawn accused her family of being behind the stunt, saying: “It had to be someone here who did it…” As suspicion began to fall on Rose, the character quickly incriminated Kim, suggesting that she had intended to inject her, but Dawn accidentally drank the drink.

Kim protested her innocence, pointing out that Rose was clearly behind the stunt, but Dawn began to side with her estranged mother, pointing out some of Kim’s past antics, including taking Dawn’s job years ago. Thursday’s episode ended with Kim’s family turning against her and siding with Rose.

On Friday night, Kim managed to convince some of her family members that she was not behind the drug being used in the drinks. However, in a wicked twist, Rose contacted her dealer and made him turn up at Home Farm, where she said Kim had bought equipment from her and owed her money.

Kim pointed out that she was obviously being set up and that she had never met the man, but Dawn was not convinced and demanded that she leave Home Farm with her family. This led to Kim leaving Home Farm so that Dawn could stay there with her sick son Evan while she was in the hospital.
