Marc Márquez was not at his best at the Dutch MotoGP Grand Prix. The eight-time world champion suffered two crashes at Assen, one of which forced him to retire from the Sprint race, and finished tenth in the main race.
The Spaniard actually crossed the finish line in fourth position, not far from the podium, but was penalised 16 seconds for exceeding the minimum pressure limits for the front tyres, something aggravated, in his opinion, by an incident with Enea Bastianini (Ducati) during the fight with the Italian.
Dani Pedrosa analysed Marquez’s performance in his commentary for DAZN. The Red Bull KTM test rider described it as an atypical performance, marked by a series of unusual errors:
– It has certainly been a strange weekend, in the sense that there have been quite a few chain errors. On Saturday, when we interviewed him, he said that he would not be pushing at 100% on Sunday, something that was confirmed by what we saw in the race, where he tried to reach that podium because he was close, but in the end he fell just short.
The “Little Samurai” completed his analysis of Márquez by highlighting that he has the German GP ahead of him, which is still going on and a track that Márquez knows so well: ‘But we have certainly seen a somewhat timid Marc, and also making some inappropriate mistakes. Well, perhaps the weekend has not been ideal for him, but now he is approaching Sachsenring, a track he knows like the back of his hand, where he can gain time and lose it to achieve victories.‘.
