The Eagles’ Pro Bowler is considered a “top trade candidate,” but that could be a mistake

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a great offseason so far, but it’s not over yet. While there has been a lot of speculation about who the Eagles could add, there have also been plenty of rumors about who the Philadelphia Eagles could trade as they look to downsize their roster.

A handful of players have been mentioned as trade candidates, with cornerback James Bradberry being the most likely, according to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.

“Let’s be honest. The Eagles probably can’t get much in return for defensive back James Bradberry,” Knox said. “He’ll be 31 in August and he’s coming off a disastrous season in which he allowed a 114.3 passer rating in coverage. However, with (Quinyon Mitchell) and (Cooper DeJean) coming into the equation, the Eagles might not have a role for Bradberry this season. Philadelphia is going to try a position change…

“Bradberry has spent his professional career as a cornerback, so there’s no guarantee he’ll fit in at (Safety). If he doesn’t, and if he can’t provide value as a role player in a sub-package, the Eagles might move on just to free up a roster spot.”

There’s been a lot of talk about Bradberry’s future, but it could make a lot of sense to keep him. Bradberry had a rough season in 2023, but he was an All-Pro in 2022. He’s only 30 now, and while he may not play cornerback anymore, he could help out at safety. Philadelphia shouldn’t get rid of him just for the sake of it. Why not give him a chance to show he still has plenty to do?
