She shared her beauty routine on Reddit’s 45 Plus Skincare forum in response to a user asking for tips on how to look “less tired and old.”

SKIN CARE ESSENTIALS

The woman spoke candidly about her makeup tricks and skincare products that she regularly uses.

She recommended using eyeshadow to contour above the crease on “hooded” eyelids.

“Placing the contour shadow too close to the crease only further accentuates the extra folds of skin!” she said, writing under the username What_iffffff.

“And definitely forget about shiny shadows and go for matte ones!”

She said many people rave about hyaluronic acid, but she prefers The Ordinary’s Marine Hyaluronics for skin health.

She said the product, which costs just $9.20 on the brand’s website, hydrates for a full, plump look.

“Many confuse hydration with moisturization,” she said.

“I moisturize with this religiously after cleansing/toning and let it absorb before following up with any products with active ingredients.

“Unless I want to boost the impact of the next product, like a peptide, I’ll take it right after.

“I also sometimes use a few layers of Marine Hyaluronics without anything after, except an occasional moisturizer for those times when my skin is burned and I just need to soothe it/restore its integrity.”

She said staying hydrated by drinking a substantial amount of water also makes a “huge difference” to the skin.

Finally, she recommended changing makeup products, such as concealer or setting powder, if they highlight wrinkles and fine lines.

“You can always color correct if you have dark circles around your eyes,” she said.

“Hydrating primers are great at this age compared to pore-minimizing, pore-blurring, etc.

“Hydrating concealers are great too! And less is more!”

“I would use less concealer on the more lined areas, and if the setting powder creases a lot, I would switch to a setting spray (I love Morphe setting spray).”

HYDRATION HERO

Marine Hyaluronics has been formulated to be suitable for all skin types.

According to the brand, optimal results are achieved by applying “a few drops” twice a day after cleansing the skin.

The “lightweight” hydrating serum has a 4.5 star rating out of 5 on The Ordinary’s website.

“This is my HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT,” said one customer.

“I have been using it morning and night for about 3 weeks now and I am truly amazed at how much of a difference it has made to my skin.

“I typically have oily skin so I never considered purchasing more moisturizing products, but I’m glad I trusted the reviews and did so.

“In the morning when I wake up, I splash my face with water to remove any eye crusts and serums etc from the night before, and once I dry my face with a towel, it literally feels like silk.

“SILK. It’s amazing. I would love to see it in 60ml format because I will never, ever stop buying it.”

Another customer chimed in and requested that The Ordinary stock Marine Hyaluronics in a larger size.

“I love this lightweight, no-pilling serum,” they said.

“We need this in a bigger bottle! 120ml or more please!”

“I work in aviation and spend more time on planes than on the ground, so this product is my holy grail when it comes to hydration.”
