‘In the last 2/3 laps I saw that Jorge Martin was starting to make some mistakes’ – Francesco Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia is unstoppable at the moment. This Sunday he took his fourth consecutive victory by beating Marc Marquez at the German MotoGP Grand Prix. However, it was not an easy race at Sachsenring.

The Ducati rider took the lead from the start, but then spent several laps in third position before beginning his comeback. After putting a lot of pressure on Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), he saw the leader make a mistake on the penultimate lap, taking the lead and taking the victory.

In the interview with the official broadcast, Bagnaia stated: ‘It wasn’t easy. I tried everything at the beginning to keep the first position, but then Jorge and Franky (Morbidelli) He got ahead of me and I was thinking, “Well, I think they’re pushing too hard, so whatever he pushes at the moment, I’ll push him in the last few laps.” He was covering the gap and it was a race where the first one to give up would lose. So I just tried to keep the pressure on him.‘.

That pressure eventually paid off, but the Italian admitted that after Martin’s accident, he played it safe: ‘In the last two or three laps I saw that he was starting to make some mistakes and then when I saw his accident I slowed down a lot because it was so tricky, the front tyre was closing a bit.‘.

Finally, Bagnaia expressed his satisfaction with this result: “I’m very happy, it’s the fourth consecutive win, so it’s fantastic. And it’s the first time I’ve won here at Sachsenring. So it was fantastic. Thank you all.‘.
