Paul Wesley may need to brush up on his pop culture knowledge.
During a recent Instagram Stories Q&A with his followers, Wesley mistakenly believed Madison Beer was an actual type of drink. The hilarious moment occurred when he answered a follower’s question about whether he liked the 22-year-old “Selfish” singer.
“I’ve never tried that beer” The Vampire Diaries “But I like beer, I like most beers. Although, I haven’t been drinking as much beer lately because I’m trying to stop drinking it, you know?” the 38-year-old alum said in a fan’s TikTok post.

Beer increased in popularity after Justin Bieber tweeted a link to his cover from Etta James’ “At Last” in 2012. The “Peaches” singer, 27, referred to the then-13-year-old as a “future star.”
Since then, Beer has amassed a huge following on social media with over 24 million followers on Instagram and over 14 million followers on TikTok. The New York-born talent released her debut album, Vital supportin February and has also found success through singles such as “Hurts Like Hell” and “Melodies.”

However, beer wasn’t the only pop culture reference Wesley got wrong. According to Just Jared, Wesley misunderstood a fan’s question about the validity of the fan-created relationship “Larry,” which consists of former One Direction members Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. He mistakenly believed they were referring to comedian Larry David.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Wesley said while answering the question about Larry. “I believe in Larry David. Do you watch Curb Your Enthusiasm? It’s my favorite show on television and I think it’s absolutely hilarious.”

Although Gen Z celebrity affairs might be outside of Wesley’s area of expertise, the actor took a pop culture personality test with Entertainment Weekly in 2014. An interesting fact that she revealed was who she considered to be her first crush.
“I loved Mandy Moore,” she said at the time. “My co-star at the time (I was on a soap opera) was Brittany Snow. (Brittany) knew (Mandy), sort of. I said, ‘Can you give (Mandy) my number?’… She never called me.”
