Cities: Skylines 2 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline 2 editor Interactive paradox He has admitted to making some mistakes lately.
In the financial report of the companies for January 2024-June 2024, Executive Director Federico Wester He acknowledged that mistakes, or “wrong decisions,” as he put it, had been made on recent projects.
The error that Wester’s comments focus on is the cancellation of Life for you, A game that would have already been released in Early Access format had it not been cancelled. As Life By You did not make its July 4 release date, earnings plummeted. 90% for Paradox.
“We end the second quarter of the year with mixed feelings. On the one hand, our core business has performed very well, but on the other hand, we made the difficult decision to cancel the launch of Life by You, as the game would not live up to our expectations,” said Wester.
Wester is quick to point out that not everything is bad, but the cancellation of Life By You continues to weigh down everything else. “We have released several solid, high-quality expansions for our core games,” Wester said.
“This has a positive impact on top line revenues and provides good cash flow from operating activities. Unfortunately, the bottom line is impacted by the write-down of Life by You… It is clear that we have made wrong decisions on several projects, especially outside our core business, and this needs to change.”
Unfortunately for Paradox, Life By You isn’t the only thing causing financial problems. Since its release, Cities: Skylines 2 hasn’t had the kind of grandiloquent launch that Paradox would have hoped for, with backlash from players over its poor performance and an indefinite delay to the expected release. Console versions.
Then there’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, which has been in development for far longer than anyone could have anticipated, to the point that Paradox was refunding players with pre-orders starting in 2023.
As of today it still does not have a release date, and instead has a release window for Fall 2024 under a new developer.
All of this to say that there is more behind Paradox’s problems than just the cancellation of Life By You, but despite the situation Wester doesn’t see things as dire yet and has hope for the future.
“Despite the great annoyance we feel about our own mistakes, we have faith. The future of Paradox is bright, but we must roll up our sleeves and work hard to make the most of its potential.”
