Oleksandr Usyk reveals ‘mistakes’ against Tyson Fury but warns: “I will not make them again”

He may be the best heavyweight on the planet, but Oleksandr Usyk has admitted he is still looking to improve.

Not only is Usyk the most decorated fighter in his division, but for many people, the Ukrainian tops the current pound-for-pound lists and even deserves to be discussed among the best bigs to ever do it.

He is one of the smallest men in the division, having come up from cruiserweight, where he held all four belts before doing the same at the top weight when he defeated Tyson Fury on May 18 to add the Ring Magazine, WBC and linear to the AMB. , WBO and IBF belts that are already in his possession.

The 12-round contest in Saudi Arabia was close and both men had periods of success. However, it was Usyk who managed to make the biggest impression on his opponent by landing a huge right hand in the ninth round that ultimately led to ‘The Gypsy King’ receiving a count out.

Speaking to The 3 Knockdown Rule and reflecting on the historic contest, he was asked if he had seen the fight.

“Yes twice. I have like a book, in my mind, what I thought would happen in the fight, but mistakes.

“I note my mistakes but the next fight I will erase them.”

Fury and Usyk will renew their rivalries on December 21 in a rematch. As much as the Ukrainian has said that he will correct his mistakes, Fury has also recently promised that he will come back stronger than ever from his first defeat.
