A video of an altercation between a waiter and a passenger on a Vande Bharat Express train from Howrah to Ranchi is being widely shared on social media. The chaotic scene unfolded after a waiter mistakenly served a non-vegetarian meal to a vegetarian passenger.
The elderly passenger did not notice the “non-vegetarian” symbol on the food packet and consumed the food. Upon realising that what he had eaten was not vegetarian, the irate passenger allegedly slapped the waiter twice. The incident occurred on July 26.
The viral video shows passengers confronting the elderly passenger, asking him to apologise to the waiter. “Kahan likha hua hai? (Where is it mentioned?),” the man can be heard saying, possibly referring to the symbol. “Kyun mara isko? Itna umar ho gaya hai! (Why did you hit him? Look at your age!),” one passenger says. Meanwhile, the waiter can be seen apologising profusely.
In another video, other passengers can be seen asking the elderly man to apologise to the waiter in front of the police. Sharing the video, one X user Kapil wrote, “A person slapped a waiter for mistakenly serving him non-vegetarian food. Others came to support the waiter.”

“I didn’t expect that fellow passenger to support the waiter,” wrote a third user.
In January, a video of two passengers fighting over luggage space on a Vande Bharat Express train was widely circulated. The viral video shows two men shouting at each other, after which a railway official intervenes to calm them down.
