Shopper shocked by Kmart’s big mistake: ‘They’re useless’

A Kmart shopper has shared her bittersweet experience with the budget retailer after first getting a deal and then receiving it in a package in terrible condition.

Although she managed to get a Wave Decor bowl for just $5, it didn’t arrive in one piece. She shared two photos of the broken item on a popular Facebook group, complete with tape indicating it was “fragile.”

“When your ‘fragile’ package from Kmart finally arrives… but like this. To fix it or not to fix it? I was lucky enough to get it for a bargain price of $5 so it’s probably not worth the effort to return it,” she wrote in the caption.

Another customer had previously ordered the same container from Kmart and “exactly the same thing happened” with her item.

Most Kmart followers advised her to return the item for a refund, but one shopper had a creative idea: using the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which involves gluing a broken piece of pottery with gold glue to make it look more like a work of art or deliberate design.

“See if you can find some gold colored glue, maybe at a hardware store,” they wrote. “Then glue it back on. I’ve done this before with a white bowl and it turned out really nice and unique.”

Other shoppers share their packaging disasters at Kmart

The unfortunate Kmart shopper isn’t the only person who received a broken Kmart package – many others are sharing their own horror stories.

“They are useless,” one person said. “This year I received four orders for various things and three of the four packages were destroyed inside.”

“Kmart needs to learn how to pack properly. I have received many broken shipments, cans of paint placed in a box ten times the size of the paint can with no wrapping; the paint exploded in transit. Kmart needs to get its act together. I only buy things online now that can’t be broken,” lamented another.

“Mine arrived with the box half open and all items were missing except one because the tape doesn’t stick. They’re going to ‘report my review,’” commented a third.

“I had a similar situation with potted plants in a large box with other items and not enough packing material around. Then the courier didn’t pay attention to the ‘on this side’ position and I think he dropped the box as well. The box arrived open! I simply took photos and sent an email and got my money back immediately. I was able to keep the broken pots and bought more,” said another.

Kmart responds to package complaint

A Kmart spokesperson responded to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia questions about what happened to the package saying in a written statement: “Customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do.”
