Galway senior football manager Pádraic Joyce probably has mail piling up on his doorstep every day since they booked their place in the All-Ireland final.
It is quite common for fans, especially young ones excited about the big game, to send their best wishes and horseshoes to the team or their manager before the final day of the All-Ireland tournament.
However, there is one letter that is taking the scenic route to Pádraic Joyce after landing at Eamon Deacy Park. The letter, addressed to Pádraic Joyce, manager of the Galway football team, home of Galway GAA, arrived at Galway United’s famous stadium, prompting laughter at the mistake.

Paul O’Brien shared the news on social media and explained why it went missing: “This letter was delivered to Galway United’s stadium. I guess we can safely say the postman is not a sports fan.”
Earlier this week, Pádraic Joyce gave his thoughts on All-Ireland final referee Sean Hurson ahead of the July 28 clash at Croke Park. The Tyrone referee will take charge of the unique All-Ireland encounter between Galway and Armagh at Croke Park on Sunday last week.
Eyebrows were raised in Galway circles at the appointment of an Ulster official and also at the fact that Hurson was the man in the middle of their 2022 All-Ireland final defeat to Kerry.
During that match, Hurson conceded a controversial late free-kick to John Daly, allowing Kerry to take the lead going into injury time and eventually win by four points.
Some fans have suggested that the Galway County Board should oppose the appointment of an Ulster referee for a final involving an Ulster team. One fan said: “The Galway County Board should not allow this, they should oppose it.”
Asked about Hurson’s appointment during Galway’s media day, Joyce said: “I wouldn’t say I’m surprised.” He added: “I always say you can control everything except the weather and the referee.
“I haven’t seen a free kick since then because of that type of free kick. I don’t know. I don’t think it cost us the game two years ago. I’ve said that before.”
