“The tank can’t make a mistake; we have a game plan”

Frank Martin thinks he has the right style for Tank Davis

On June 15, lightweight contender Frank “The Ghost” Martin (18-0, 12 KO’s) steps into the ring for the biggest fight of his professional career. He will face knockout artist and WBA 135-pound champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (Abdul Wahid) (29-0, 27 KO). Despite the betting odds in Tank’s favor, Martin told Fight Hub TV that he’s not worried about his perceived disadvantages.

“They want to put it in the air to make me believe that I am not prepared, (to) question me, doubt myself. I’m here for a reason, I fought to get to this position. I’m more than ready. . . It’s more motivation. As I keep telling everyone: bet with me, win with me! It’s more motivation, I’m not going to trip over those odds!

THE TALK IS OVER!

El Fantasma, ranked number 2 (WBA) and number 7 (IBF), will slide into the ring after being out of action for just under a calendar year. In his last fight, Martin, 29, faced and narrowly defeated Artem Harutyunyan by unanimous decision. However, before we talk about inactivity, it is worth noting that Tank has been inactive for fourteen months. Judging by this metric, both men will be on equal footing.

Since the fight was announced, Martin has been consistent in his message that he is on par with Tank’s skill level. Led by his second-in-command Derrick James, Martin is confident they have devised a game plan for victory. Luckily, this grudge match is just around the corner, so all of these questions will be answered in no time!

“Styles make fights. I feel like I’m going to have a style more in line with some of the things he does as well. . . He can’t make the kind of mistakes he makes with those other guys against me. You have a guy who has speed and athleticism, like you. He’s going to have to be on top of his game and, as I keep saying, we have a game plan for him. I’ve been watching it for a long time!
