Home and Away’s Tane Parata will make a big mistake in the baby story

Home and Away spoilers follow for the Australian-paced episodes, which will air in a few weeks in the UK.

Home and Away’s Tane Parata will suffer a major setback in the baby plot this week.

Tane recently found a baby in a bag on the beach and, after refusing to leave her by his side at the hospital, announced his decision to try to become the primary caregiver for the girl, whom he has nicknamed Maia.

In scenes airing this week (via TV Week), Harper appears at the hospital, hands Tane the day’s newspaper and apologizes. Upon opening it, she discovers that an article has been written about him, calling him “obsessed” with the child.

It turns out that a journalist tricked Harper’s sister, Dana, into answering questions and her words were included in this scathing article.

With his character under attack, plus all the pressure of the baby’s health, Tane is understandably nervous. But when the same journalist arrives at the hospital and seeks to expand on the story, Tane’s temper gets the better of him and he lashes out.

He gets the journalist to leave, but not before receiving a formal complaint.

Will that lead to even more negative stories about him and prevent him from becoming Maia’s caretaker?

Tane’s friends have previously shared their concern for him, worried that he is devoting all his time to this baby to get over the end of his marriage.

Tane actor Ethan Browne said: “He’s trying to figure out what to do with himself but he’s doing really well and the future looks hopeful.

“He wants the best for this baby and to make sure she is in a home and with proper care. He can’t help but feel responsible for her, just as he found her.”
