Christina Ricci wishes she could remake the ’90s because she regrets many of her decisions.
The 42-year-old actress made her film debut as a child star in the 1990 film Mermaids and followed it up with ’90s classics like Casper, The Addams Family and Now and Then.
Despite her professional success in that decade, Ricci confessed to her Yellowjackets co-stars Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress in a joint interview that she is full of regret for her mistakes during that time in her life.
“This is very dark, but I wish I could go back to that age and do it again and not make so many mistakes. Honestly, I regret it a lot,” she candidly admitted to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’d like to go back to 1996 and say, ‘Okay… we had a practice. Everything went well, but it actually wasn’t as good as we wanted. Let’s do this again.’ People who say, “I have no regrets.” What magical fucking life did you live?”
Her co-stars agreed that they regret it too, and Lewis confessed that she was “very scary when she was a teenager.”
New Zealand actress Lynskey suggested that people who say they have no regrets are narcissists who “lie to themselves,” and Ricci responded: “Denial is the only way to get back up that river.”
The four actresses are preparing to begin filming the second season of Yellowjackets.
