Christian Eriksen disappointed at not beating an England team plagued by errors

Gareth Southgate’s England has been harshly criticized since the start of Euro 2024.

After coming into the European Championship as favourites, the Three Lions were below average in their first two matches in Group C.

Southgate’s side have four points to show for their efforts following a 1-0 win over Serbia and a 1-1 draw with Denmark.

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen reflected on facing England at Euro 2024 and said (via The Mirror): “They made more mistakes than I expected England to make in their build-up game.

‌”We had our chances to win. We think we should and could have won the game, so we are a little disappointed. We were very at the forefront. We had the conviction to play from the back and create chances in attack. We were able to hurt them a little on the counterattack, but also with possession.

“We had very good periods with the ball. In general we played a very good game. We show the faith we have and the qualities we have as a team.‌

“But we’re not there yet. This is another game on the road. It all comes down to us getting to the last game and getting three points against Serbia.”

The media is wondering if Southgate knows his best team or if he will be able to get more out of the players he has available. It’s scary to think that he was one of the supposed candidates in the race for the United job…
