A Clermont County Municipal Court judge resigned Friday, a year after being accused of misconduct.
Judge Jesse Kramig submitted a letter of resignation to members of the Clermont County Republican Party on Friday, Greg Simpson, former party chairman and current delegate, confirmed to The Enquirer in an email.
In the letter, Kramig said he was resigning “to ensure that my personal transgression does not continue to negatively impact the image of the Court.”
Last year, Kramig was investigated for allegedly engaging in sexual activity in the workplace during work hours. Kramig, 42, was accused of having an affair with 25-year-old administrative assistant Allison Kersker.
The investigation closed in October and no charges were brought against him.
“The mistakes I have made in my personal life have been made public,” Kramig’s letter continues. “I am truly sorry for the impact my mistakes have had on my family.”
Kramig, a Republican, was appointed to the municipal court in 2016. He previously worked in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and as an assistant prosecutor in Hamilton and Clermont counties. He was re-appointed to the $148,775-a-year position in November.
“It’s unfortunate, but I would say Judge Kramig took responsibility for his actions and that resulted in his resignation,” David Painter, chairman of the Clermont County Board of Commissioners, told The Enquirer.
Kramig could not immediately be reached for comment.
