Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon wondered if it was her in a selfie sent to her by one of her co-stars as she was mistaken for an American star. As fans of the ITV soap know, the actress is famous for playing Maria Windass, née Sutherland.
Samia, and Maria, first hit the cobbles in 2000 after beating Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh and Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw to land the role.
The character was first seen working in his father, Eric’s, kennel. Tyrone Dobbs and Jack Duckworth brought Tyrone’s greyhound, Monica, to look for a stallion to mate with, but Maria and Tyrone were immediately attracted to each other and the pair began a relationship and the rest, as they say, is history and 24 years later. and Maria remains a mainstay in Weatherfield.

But despite having worked with some of her co-stars for decades, it seems Samia, 41, could be mistaken for an American singer considering her latest social media post.
The soap opera star shared an image of what appeared to be her posing with a fan on the street. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that this was Wrecking Ball and Flowers hitmaker Miley Cyrus.
Additionally, mother-of-two Samia wrote to her fans and followers: “@mollie.gallagher sent me this because for a split second she thought @mileycyrus was me…” After posting a laughing emoji, she added: “Ngl (Not gonna lie)… I did a double take,” along with a series of laughing and crying emojis.
It comes after Samia took to her Instagram Story and shared the personal side effects her own battle with anxiety can have. She has often been open about her anxiety problems, even revealing how she was misdiagnosed when she was a child. She tells her social media followers if she’s having a bad day or shares how she maintains zen, like doing some yoga in her dressing room.
She shared a photo of her nails with some sores around the cuticles. “I always touch my fingers until they hurt when I think too much,” she explained. “I do it without realizing it… When my redheads look like this I know I need to slow down my thoughts… #anxiety ‘honesttruth #monkeymind,” Samia shared and also added a GIF that read, “Mental health matters,” before to add, “I need to get my nails done ASAP (ASAP).”
