We all know that Warzone requires good mechanics, but getting better at Call of Duty’s popular battle royale involves a lot more than just being able to aim.

In this article, we’ll share essential tips and tricks on how to make sure you’re making the most of your time when trying to get better at Warzone so you can start winning more lobbies.

To get better at Warzone, you’ll need to tweak a few things

The idea for this article came from a video by Call of Duty content creator WhosImmortal on YouTube, but it will be a mix of his own thoughts and my own from experience in competitive gaming.

Here are seven Warzone tips and tricks that will help you get better at Warzone and win more games.

7. Make the most of your minimap

To start off, we’ll begin by making sure your minimap is set up to ensure you get the best information to make decisions that will help you win gunfights and stay alive.

One of the main things you need to adjust to improve in Warzone when it comes to your minimap is changing it from a circle to a square.

The circle cuts off a good portion of the available map, limiting the amount of information you can have available at any given time.

It’s obvious that you should see a red dot on the map to indicate locations instead of not seeing it. Make your minimap a square, not a circle.

6. Position yourself and have a plan or three

Continuing with the theme of being aware of your surroundings, positioning and vision for the future are incredibly important.

One of the most overlooked aspects when it comes to Warzone tips and tricks is to make sure you think about the circle, what’s inside it, where enemies are most likely to come from (hot drops), and plan your position and escape route accordingly.

Getting caught between multiple squads because you didn’t think about your position or path is frustrating. So take a moment, look around, and figure out what the best options are for attacking.

5. Loot more efficiently

Just like when you get caught with your pants down, you don’t want to get caught in the loot boxes because you can’t check them out fast enough.

This can basically be compared to anything that takes away your ability to defend yourself, like getting into your smokescreen like Brimstone in Valorant or trying to line up that smoke throw you really thought you knew in Counter-Strike.

Setting up your game to allow for efficient looting is critical to your journey to improvement in Warzone.

You’ll need to change the “Interaction/Recharge Behavior” setting to something that feels natural and comfortable to you. We recommend tapping to interact, and then you can decide if you want it to take priority over recharge or not.

You want to be able to interact and grab items quickly, because the less time you spend trying to do so, the more time you can spend moving, aiming, and winning.

4. Enhance that movement with slide changes.

Since slide canceling returns to Call of Duty with Modern Warfare 3, you’ll want to fine-tune it for the most optimal movement.

In the game settings, you will need to enable the option “Sliding maintains sprint”. This means that when you exit the slide, you will continue to move quickly and you will be able to enter and exit the slide by canceling consistently.

Fluid movement will allow you to be more focused most of the time.

3. Know when to disconnect

I know, I know. You almost got them.

But you didn’t! It’s easy to get caught up in a firefight and lose sight of the area or not hear the other three squads approaching behind you. Trust me, I know.

Knowing when a fight has gone on too long or when you’re losing ground can make a huge difference in your efforts to improve in Warzone.

It’s okay to read that a situation isn’t going well for you and your squad and decide to back off and try again later, so do that when necessary.

2. Mid to long range control is important

We’re not talking about MW3, but Warzone. That means a lot of medium and long-range gunfights, and yet many people build their loadouts as if they’re only going to fight people up close.

This part of Warzone tips and tricks will tell you to make sure you have enough control over your weapon through aiming, sway, recoil, kick, and speed attachments to be able to take on engagements outside of close proximity.

Idle scope sway is very important, as it provides that slight sway when you’re aiming down sights. The more you get better at it, the more focused and centered your ADS sight will be consistently. So if you want to get better at Warzone, make sure you have enough of this to ensure you can maintain your aim at a distance.

Along the same lines, according to WhosImmortal, MW3 weapons are currently at a disadvantage when it comes to longer ranges. This is due to increased idle sway, visual recoil, and the “bounce and vibration” of the weapon when firing it.

1. Don’t rely on the pros and cons of accessories

While it would be nice if the pros and cons of props during a charge were 100% accurate all the time, that’s simply not the case. This is sometimes due to a problem in the backend or perhaps due to certain relationships between different props.

However, because of this, you should always check in the advanced section of the detailed stats page that the changes you want to make to the weapon you are working on are displaying as intended.
