Recently in Emmerdale, Matty Barton, played by Ash Palmisciano, was jailed after stabbing Samson Dingle at The Hide.
Viewers will have seen Matty get a new cellmate, Les, who started to make him feel uncomfortable.
Now, actor Ash Palmisciano has detailed the moment Amy puts her husband Matty in great danger.
Emmerdale: Matty’s time in prison
Matty has been struggling recently to cope with his situation in prison and has been assigned a new cellmate despite thinking he was going to be alone in a cell.
Hardman Les soon began bullying Matty, who pointed this out to Cain during a prison visit.
Cain then encouraged Matty to use violence against anyone who might endanger him.
However, Emmerdale spoilers confirm that Les will discover that Matty is trans and keep his secret.
He will then begin to teach him ways he can behave in prison so that he fits in. However, Les will warn him that not all prisoners can accept him as he is.
Emmerdale actor Ash Palmisciano reveals Amy’s costly mistake
Next week, Amy visits Matty in prison and is glad that he is feeling more positive about things.
She is happy to hear about Les’ support and goes to thank him, but accidentally mistakes Robbo for him.
Robbo plays along and manages to find out from Amy that Matty is trans. He then corners Matty, putting him in great danger…
Speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other outlets about the troubling moment, Ash Palmisciano shared: “Amy reveals to Robbo, who is a very nasty, transphobic, horrible guy, that Matty is trans and that it’s the worst thing that could have ever happened to Matty.”
As Robbo corners Matty in his cell, Ash added: “They have this conversation where Robbo makes it clear that he knows who Matty is without actually saying it.”
Reflecting on these scenes, Ash delved into Matty’s thoughts at the time and thought, “What is he going to do with this information? What is he going to do next? It could have been anything.” He went on to say that these scenes were “really scary” to play as an actor. But is Matty’s life in danger?
