Experts talk about the most common mistakes when classifying glass

Specialists from the Clean Lutsk Waste Management Centre have warned residents of the city and urged them to avoid common mistakes when sorting glass waste.

They shared this useful information on their Facebook page.

Experts have pointed out that ONLY clear glass should be thrown into the container called “Clear Glass”, as it is very important for the correct recycling of materials.

“Remember that not everything that looks like glass is actually glass!” they reminded.

The specialists provided a list of materials that DO NOT belong to glass.

  • glass;
  • porcelain;
  • impact and heat resistant glass;
  • reinforced glass, automotive, mirrors, thermos.

They also urged people to read information plates carefully or consult an advisor if they are unsure about the correct sorting. Experts said that once broken porcelain is in the container for clear glass, its contents become garbage, not recyclable. The recycler can reject such waste, and all efforts to sort and recycle the waste will be in vain.

“Let us be responsible and help preserve our resources,” urged Chisty Lutsk.

EcoPolitic has previously presented its readers with rules for sorting other types of waste.
