Some of the things fans have discovered in Season 40 involve inaccurate clues. In June, fans reported an error in temperature units on social media. The website J-Archive also confirmed that the game show was wrong.
During her 15-game winning streak, Adriana faced Shira Gluck and Benjamin Nelson in her seventh game. Selecting the $600 clue in the “One Letter Says It All” category, Ken read the clue: “50 degrees F. equals 283.15 degrees east.” Adriana was declared correct with “K,” but Ken added, “Correct, for Kelvin.”
Viewers at home took to social media to explain that the show was wrong. The kelvin is not measured in degrees, but has its own unit of measurement called Kelvins, one Reddit user pointed out. Adriana responded to the thread and admitted to holding Ken accountable for it, but it didn’t air.
Another instance where Ken left viewers confused was when he read the correct answer to a clue. One viewer criticized the show for having an open-ended question that no one, not even Ty Patton, Kelsey Kaunisviita Vockrodt, and Adriana, could solve. Ty chose the “Human Race” category for $1,000, which read: “Using animal fat and sticks, a team of Spanish researchers attempted to solve this kind of obvious question about cave paintings.” Ty and Kelsey came in but didn’t do well.
Ken tried to explain the correct answer but the contestants were confused. One Reddit user asked: “Anyone else hate that cave painting question? It seemed really clunky and hard to figure out what they were looking for as an answer.” Others agreed.
It also seems that songs aren’t Ken’s strong suit. Adriana chose the “Songs in the Key of Life” category in one of the episodes and Ken read, “In the title of a Rascal Flatts song, ‘Life Is’ This Kind of Highway.” She replied, “What’s ‘a highway’?” which was correct. However, artist Tom Cochrane originally created Life Is a Highway for his second album, Mad Mad World, in 1991. Rascal Flatts covered the single for the Cars soundtrack in 2006.
