Following India’s triumphant win at the 2024 T20 World Cup, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan expressed his optimism for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
Despite being excluded from the T20 World Cup squad due to disciplinary issues, Kishan continues to support the team.
Kishan praises Indian team
Ishan Kishan told PTI and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue its winning streak in future tournaments.
“India have won. We should all pray for their success in the upcoming Champions Trophy. We made a few mistakes, but the way we played and won, it was what we expected from the team.”
Celebrating the victory of the T20 WC 2024
India’s journey in the 2024 T20 World Cup was spectacular as the team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. They won the 2024 T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final on June 29 in Barbados.
The victory parade in Mumbai saw an overwhelming turnout of fans celebrating the team’s success. BCCI officials awarded the Rohit Sharma-led team with a cheque of Rs 125 crore, in recognition of their remarkable achievement.
During the parade, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20Is, marking the end of an era for Indian cricket. The win not only allowed them to take home the World Cup trophy but also rekindled the spirit of cricket among fans.
Kishan’s exclusion and his future hopes
Ishan Kishan’s exclusion from the squad for the T20 World Cup was due to disciplinary action by the BCCI. He, along with Shreyas Iyer, was removed from the central contract for not meeting the requirements of domestic cricket.
Kishan had prioritised preparation for the IPL over playing in the Ranji Trophy, which led to his omission.
Despite these setbacks, Kishan remains hopeful and his unwavering support underlines his belief in the team’s potential for more victories.
Looking to the future
As Team India prepares for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the young squad will be led by Shubman Gill in the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe.
