Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has slammed Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, saying they “made a lot of mistakes” in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Azam was Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in the tournament with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 101.66.
As for Rizwan, he amassed 110 runs in four games, which included a top score of 53 not out, an average of 36.66 and a strike rate of 90.90.
Kaif believes both players were “not in good form” and criticised them for their poor strike rates.
“Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were not in good form. They were playing on the run. They made a lot of mistakes and they had to pay for it. Whenever there was pressure, Pakistan completely disintegrated. They probably didn’t deserve to make it to the Super Eight this time,” he said. Pakistan Cricket.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before beating Canada and Ireland.
Despite these two victories, they were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
