New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin GadkariGadkari, known for speaking his mind, has issued a warning to the BJP. The veteran BJP leader warned the party not to “make the same mistake as the Congress”, which led to the grand old party’s exit from power. Gadkari also reminded the saffron party that “the BJP is a different party” and its cadres and leaders should always remember this.
“If we continue to do what the Congress used to do, it will be of no use if they go out and we come in,” Gadkari said. His comments assume significance amid the BJP’s lackluster performance in the recently concluded Lok Saha elections. The BJP failed to surpass majority on its own for the first time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The minister made the observation at an executive meeting of the Goa BJP near Panaji, which was attended by party state unit chief Sadanand Tanavade and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant along with other functionaries.
Gadkari also recalled his political mentor and BJP stalwart LK Advani, highlighting his comment that “the BJP is a different party”.
“Advani Ji used to say that we are a different party. We have to understand how different we are from other parties,” the former BJP president said.
Gadkari stressed that politics should be seen as a tool to change society for the better.
“Therefore, in the coming days, party cadres must know that politics is an instrument to achieve social and economic reforms,” he said.
“We need to create a country free of corruption and for that we need a plan,” he added.
Gadkari also criticised caste politics, saying he believes in the values of an individual.
“I have decided not to follow this trend. I have told people that I will not get involved in caste politics. Those who talk about caste will be thrown out of power,” he warned.
Gadkari urged Goa BJP cadres to visit every constituency and strengthen organisation, with the aim of ensuring victory in the 2027 assembly elections.
