PANAJI: Union minister Nitin Gadkari addressed an executive meeting of the Goa BJP near Panaji, which was attended by party leaders including chief minister Pramod Sawant. In his address, Gadkari stressed on the importance of the BJP being a “different party” as claimed by his mentor and former deputy prime minister LK Advani.
Gadkari warned that the BJP should not repeat the mistakes made by the Congress, which led to its exit from power. He stressed that if the BJP makes the same mistakes, there would be no point in the Congress’ exit and the BJP’s entry. The Union Minister stressed that people had elected the BJP because of the Congress’ mistakes.
The Lok Sabha MP from Nagpur urged the party cadres to understand that politics is an instrument to bring about social and economic reforms. He stressed the need to create a corruption-free country and have a plan to achieve this goal.
Referring to politics in Maharashtra, Gadkari expressed his resolve not to follow the trend of caste-based politics (jativadi rajkaran). He warned, “Jo karega jaat ki baat, usko padegi kaske laath (whoever talks about caste will get a hard kick),” stressing that a person is known by his values, not by his caste.
Nitin Gadkari advised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to conduct a state-level survey during a state executive meeting of the BJP in Taleigao. The aim of the survey is to assess the performance of the government and identify any grievances that citizens may have.
Gadkari stressed the importance of addressing these issues efficiently in the next two years to ensure BJP’s victory in the 2027 state assembly elections.
He said, “I want to recommend to the Prime Minister to conduct a survey to find out the opinion of the people about the performance of the government and also to find out if the people have any grievances against the government. Work efficiently for the next two years to address any issues that the citizens may have. If we do so, then in 2027, the BJP will definitely come back to power in Goa with a clear majority.”
Gadkari also stressed the importance of conducting performance audits for elected representatives and ministers, considering them more essential than financial audits.
