Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today stressed that the BJP, known to be a different kind of party, must avoid repeating the mistakes that led to the Congress losing power. Addressing an executive meeting of the Goa BJP near Panaji, attended by state unit chief Sadanand Tanavade and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Gadkari stressed on the need for the BJP to defend its unique identity.
“Advani ji used to say that we are a different party. We have to understand how different we are from other parties,” Gadkari recalled, highlighting the BJP’s distinctive approach.
“People have elected the BJP because of the Congress’s mistakes. If we repeat those mistakes, our coming to power will be worthless,” he warned, reflecting on the recent Lok Sabha elections in which the BJP failed to secure a majority.

“In the days ahead, party workers must recognise that politics is a tool to bring about social and economic reforms,” Gadkari said, stressing the importance of corruption-free governance.
Speaking on politics in Maharashtra, Gadkari criticised the trend of caste-based politics and vowed to shun it. “I have decided not to follow this trend. Those who resort to caste-based politics will face consequences,” he warned.
Gadkari urged the Goa BJP cadres to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in all constituencies, with an aim to secure victory in the 2027 assembly elections.
