Jujutsu Kaisen creator feels great regret for Megumi’s sister, Tsumiki!
‘Jujutsu Kaisen’The manga has been pushing Megumi Fushiguro further into depression than ever with each new chapter, and it turns out the creator behind it all has some major regrets about his sister, Tsumiki! Jujutsu Kaisen It’s been developing at a rapid pace lately, as the series has been gearing up to continue the fight against Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, but that also means that with so many characters and storylines to balance, there isn’t enough time or space to flesh out each addition. This also comes with caveats when that character is supposed to have a greater prominence than they’ve had so far.
Megumi, who Jujutsu Kaisen Series creator Gege Akutami revealed that he was once planned to be the main hero of the manga, and has revealed several members of his family throughout the series. One was his sister Tsumiki, whom Megumi was trying to save during the events of the Culling Game arc. But for Akutami, the creator revealed during the Jujutsu Kaisen Criticism of the art exhibition in Japan was that it was a “big mistake” not to have had enough time to develop Tsumiki’s background as a real character.
The “big mistake” of the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen
“In terms of what makes up the core of these two, there just wasn’t enough information to flesh out Tsumiki’s past, so I think it was a total failure,” Akutami explained when asked about the development of Megumi’s story (as translated by @soukatsu_ in X). “This is one part where I feel like it was a huge mistake. I should have had Itadori and Tsumiki have a proper meeting just once… Itadori’s perspective is also the reader’s perspective, so I shouldn’t have been forced to advance the story without getting any insight into the readers’ thoughts on Tsumiki. Something to ponder on!!”
As fans had seen throughout the series, outside of a brief flashback to Megumi’s past, not much is really known about Tsumiki herself. She spends the first half of the manga in a coma, and then becomes a completely different character throughout the Killing Game. She’s just someone left out of the loop of everything that’s happened within the series, and Akutami himself has noted that he missed out on the chance to show more of Tsumiki when he had the chance to.
But there is still time like Jujutsu Kaisen continues to release new chapters of the manga, which you can read with Viz Media’s Shonen Jump digital library and Shueisha’s MangaPlus service.
