Four mistakes Triple H made with Bobby Lashley in WWE

Bobby Lashley is a two-time WWE World Champion.

Bobby Lashley is one of the most powerful and dominant professional wrestlers, with a massive muscular frame. Lashley has been in the professional wrestling industry since 2005 and is known for his time in WWE and beyond. Lashley has been in WWE twice, from 2005 to 2008 and from 2018 to present.

It was recently reported that The Almighty was removed from the internal roster and reports suggest that he could be leaving WWE after his contract expires. With the release announced, here we take a look at four mistakes that Triple H made with Bobby Lashley in WWE.

4. There is no stable characterization

Since Bobby Lashley made his return to WWE in 2018, there hasn’t been a stable characterization for The Almighty. He was introduced as a face, but turned heel to form a heel trio alongside Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre. He briefly teamed with Lio Rush, but they disbanded after a brief stint.

Lashley then allied himself with MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander to form ‘The Hurt Business’, but the stable disbanded for an unknown reason. Lashley, after moving to SmackDown, formed a tag team called Pride with the Street Profits, but was soon written off WWE television. All of these are a living example of there being no stable characterization built for Lashley throughout his second career, which might be the most costly mistake made by Triple H.

3. Lack of drive

Bobby Lashley hasn’t had enough push after moving to the SmackDown brand. Lashley formed a new heel stable with The Street Profits, which looked promising during the initial run, but the company buried their push with Karrion Kross’ faction, Final Testament. Bobby Lashley and Street Profits, before having their first match as a faction, were attacked by Kross and AOP and the storyline was meaningless for almost half a year. This buried all the potential of the stable and made the heel stable look weaker.

2. Deprived of title image

Bobby Lashley was in the prime of his career as he held both the WWE Championship and the United States Championship on the Raw roster. However, Lashley was pushed out of the championship spotlight and never got the chance to challenge for the gold. The process of stripping Lashley of the title picture drastically degraded his character when he was in his prime. This could be one of the costliest mistakes in the Triple H era as Lashley could have changed the game had he challenged for the gold.

1. Bad plots

WWE had Lashley stuck in the same spot for a longer period of time, without any story angles. The Hurt Business vs. Bloodline match was the most anticipated at the time, but it never happened. The Pride would have been a better storyline on the blue brand, but it got buried. Some of Bobby Lashley’s storylines and rivalries didn’t get closure, such as his feud with Brock Lesnar, Omos, Big E, Austin Theory, Lana, Rusev, and more. Story angles could be a big problem with Lashley in his second stint.
