A flight attendant has highlighted three common mistakes people make when taking off.
Ms Miva, who works for TUI, has amassed more than 41,000 followers on TikTok by sharing insider information about the travel industry. And in a recent video, she revealed mistakes that holidaymakers often fall victim to.
The German-born cabin crew member said people make mistakes with their clothing and drink choices, with one of the most common problems being people wearing shorts or skirts on board.
While this may not seem like a big deal, it can make you feel quite uncomfortable when you’re in the air. Not only will your bare skin be exposed to the air conditioning in the cabin, but you may also end up rubbing against dirty parts of the plane.
Explaining why long trousers or sweatpants may be the best option, Ms Miva added: “You never know how clean the place you’re going to sit in will be. Plus, it can get very cold.”
The next mistake travellers make is related to what they drink. Many get too excited and enjoy numerous pints of beer and gin and tonics at the airport during the flight.
It may seem harmless, but being drunk in the air is not a good idea. Not only can it make you feel disoriented in an emergency situation, but it can also get you into trouble with the cabin crew.
Ms Miva said: “You should never get drunk on a plane. Passengers who are too drunk can be removed from the crew for safety reasons.”
The TikToker’s final tip is to stay hydrated. “Dry air and low humidity on the plane can lead to increased fluid loss and dehydration,” she said.
To avoid this problem, make sure you carry a water bottle with you that you can fill before boarding. You can also buy one at the airport or from the cabin crew.
