Earlier, TUKO.co.ke The Olympic opening ceremony was reportedly held outside a stadium for the first time at the Paris 2024 events.

All the participating teams paraded in their costumes in an elegant ceremony on the River Seine, east of the Eiffel Tower.

However, one commentator struggled to read Omanyala’s name and instead said “omanpalyaya”, leaving Kenyans with mixed reactions.

Some made fun of the lady questioning how difficult the name was, while others tried to understand her as she read so many names from different countries.

Carol Radul defends Olympic commentator

Radull, in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, He defended the lady, saying that such mistakes happen.

“Live commentary is not easy, especially at such a long event. It was an unintentional mistake that I’m sure she will never make again. She was even taken aback and mispronounced Triza’s name. The number of times our media mispronounces the names of international athletes is astonishing,” she said.

The sports enthusiast and influencer also added that people should focus their attention on Omanyala and other Kenyan athletes and support them so that everyone can remember their names.
