A common cell phone mistake that could add hundreds of dollars to your vacation

Going on holiday is always a nice time, but as with most things, travelling abroad is becoming more expensive. Flights, accommodation and activities can all be costly.

Sometimes the huge bill you receive at the end of a holiday is enough to put people off. According to a travel expert, there is one mistake many people make when booking a holiday that could cost you hundreds of pounds.

But there is a way around it. Consumer experts at Which? recently shared a TikTok in which they enlisted the help of travel expert Lauren Bell, who revealed things she would “never” do when booking a holiday.

According to the Mirror, simply changing the way you search for accommodation could save you hundreds of pounds. In the video, he says: “I would never book a hotel on a computer without checking the price on my mobile phone first.”

It may seem pointless, but there may be savings to be made. Lauren says: “We knocked £270 off the price of an apartment in Amsterdam on Booking.com and saved almost £100 on a weekend in Florence with Expedia, simply by booking a mobile-only room rather than using a laptop.”

According to Which?, these exclusive deals can only be viewed from a smartphone and not from a desktop computer. To get the best price for your hotel stay, experts recommend comparing prices on your computer and mobile phone across multiple booking sites.

You should also contact the hotel directly to make sure you are getting the best price possible before you pay. Another way to save money when booking a holiday is to avoid paying for seats with your travel companions, unless you are flying with Ryanair or Wizz Air.

Lauren said: “Jet2 and BA have told us they will always try to seat groups together where possible, but Wizz Air and Ryanair are more likely to separate you unless you pay to sit together.” Another tip is to make sure tasks like changing money are done before you arrive at the airport.

Lauren said exchange rates at airports were “notoriously terrible” so it was worth changing money elsewhere.
