Fox Business host Stuart Varney warned former President Donald Trump that he was making a “mistake” by insulting presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris by calling her a “fool.”
During a Fox Business interview on Monday, Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) blamed Harris’s nomination on diversity, equity and inclusion policies.
“Americans don’t want more,” Owens said. “They don’t want more reparations, no more affirmative action, no more equality and inclusion.”
“If she was white, she wouldn’t be sitting in the position she’s in right now,” she continued. “She’s Black. She’s a woman. She has IED at her core and they need to own that.”
But Varney said she had spoken to women who were upset when Trump insulted Harris.
“They’re not happy with what Trump has been saying and some of the language he’s using about Kamala Harris,” she said. “It’s insulting.”
Varney wondered whether Trump should “tone down his language.”
“I think what we should be doing is looking at the message: Are we trying to get our country back on track?” Owens said.
“Wait a minute,” Varney interrupted. “I was away from home all weekend and when Donald Trump called Kamala Harris a fool, in my opinion, he made a grave mistake.”
“Women react to that kind of thing,” the presenter said. “And that’s the way it should be.”

Varney noted that Trump “said he was going to be nice, and then he says, ‘I’m not going to be nice.'”
“I think that’s a mistake,” he added.
Owens deflected the question by pointing to the assassination attempt on Trump.
“We have to accept Donald Trump as he is,” he said. “And I’ll tell you one thing: the worst thing we can do is vote for a good Kamala Harris, because she’s going to destroy our nation because her policies are un-American.”
