So it’s always fun when the Saints put the pass rush on for the first time, especially for offensive lineman. And speaking of the old line, Trevor Penning, certainly trying to earn that job at right tackle, says he knows he’s under that microscope and it’s not really up to him whether or not he gets that job at right tackle. But he says his confidence is getting a lot better with each practice the past two years. I think I’ve been, you know, it was tough to make a mistake, it kind of bothered me, but now it’s kind of a learning moment. You can learn from it, discard it, and, you know, use it and try not to make it again, but use it to learn and move on. And remember, the 2022 first-round pick is learning a new position, having made the switch from left tackle to right tackle. It’s definitely an adjustment, for sure. But from the time I realized I was switching to now, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable. I feel like even going to the left side now would be a little weird. Everything would be backwards there, but so far it’s been good. The Saints need the offensive line to be right. If not, it could be a problem for Penning, but he’s putting his personal goals aside and has one real thing on his mind. I want to do what I can to help this team win. I want to be, you know, a key contributor to that. I want to, you know, play like I think I can play and be, you know, a dominant player, which I think I can become. Trevor Penning says he’s been leaning on some of the veterans to help him out. One guy he’s been talking to a lot is former offensive lineman, Terron Armstead, who he says has been helping him out with the mental and technical side of things when it comes to the offensive line at Irvine Sharif.
