Paul Chuckle was left stumped after a fan mistakenly thought he had died after mistaking him for his late older brother Barry on social media.
The 75-year-old, whose real name is Paul Elliott, was previously half of the Chuckle Brothers double act, until Barry passed away in 2018 from cancer.
The Chuckle Brothers became children’s television favorites from 1987 until their show Chucklevision went off the air in 2009. The couple briefly returned to entertainment with a stage tour in 2010 titled An Audience with the Chuckle Brothers.
His comedy show included comedy sketches and sight gags combined with his well-known catchphrases of “For me, for you!” and “My God, my God!”
In 2014 they took the surprise step of collaborating with rapper Tynchy Stryder on the charity single To Me, To You (Bruv).
The confusion arose after a fan responded to a question on Twitter asking, “Which celebrity death was the most unexpected?” and he mentioned Paul Chuckle.
Rotherham-born Paul retweeted the response along with two question marks, indicating his confusion.
His followers were scratching their heads all over the place.
“I’m sure Paul Chuckle was very shocked to find out he was dead,” one wrote.
“He already responded saying “that’s news to me… to you,” another joked.
Others simply attempted to correct the Twitter user, saying: “It’s Barry who died, not Paul.”
