Don’t repeat Buhari’s mistakes and nepotism – Shehu Sani warns Tinubu – ABN TV

Former Kaduna Central Senator and social critic, Shehu Sani, has warned President Bola Tinubu not to make the same mistakes as his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, in terms of appointments.

Sani said unlike Buhari, Tinubu’s nominations should be based on competence.

During an appearance on the Channels Television program Sunday PoliticsThe former lawmaker accused Buhari of nepotism while he was in government.

Sani noted that nepotism was at its peak and questioned why some ministers were in office for eight years under Buhari.

According to Sani: “I will advise President Tinubu to be careful not to make the mistakes of President Buhari, and I believe he has the experience to understand that.

“Under President Buhari, there are ministers who were appointed to serve for eight years; They were with him during the first and second terms, and there was no cabinet reshuffle or dismissal.

“Even if there were a dismissal, it takes three to four months to replace a minister. That was how the country was governed.

“Under Buhari, we have seen nepotism at its peak, where people were appointed to public positions and abandoned even if they did nothing.

“Service chiefs were retained in their positions despite their failures, and in retaining them, the careers of those behind them were destroyed. For many years, many officers were removed to appoint a single person.”
