Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad believes it was the “biggest mistake to reappoint Babar Azam as captain”.
Azam stepped down from the leadership role in all three formats in November 2023 but returned as the country’s limited-overs captain in March 2024.
The 29-year-old recently led the men in green at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they failed to make it past the group stage.
Shehzad noted that Azam has consistently said that the team will learn from its mistakes, but admitted that he is sick and tired of the Lahore native’s empty promises.
“It was the biggest mistake to reappoint Babar Azam as captain. After losing the match, they just said that we will learn from our mistakes; when will that happen?” he said. Pakistan Cricket.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before triumphing over Canada and Ireland.
It is worth noting that Azam was Pakistan’s top scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 101.66.
