EA pledges to fix Stanford logo bug in College Football 25

EA Sports has apologized to Stanford University football fans after learning it made a mistake with the program’s logo in College Football 25.

As SFGate reports, hawk-eyed fans of the football team have spotted a few errors at Stanford University. In particular, those who chose Stanford as their home team came across a mistake in the logo: a red tree in the middle behind a white capital S as a background.

As noted by Sportslogo.net, the current logo, which went into effect in 2015, is a white tree behind a red capital S.

Additionally, several game renderings show conflicting images between the current and old Stanford football logos. The correct logo is present on the helmets and Stanford Stadium, which is printed at center field. However, Stanford’s scoreboard shows the old logo, where the tree was green, as shown in the image below.

Of course, EA Sports revealed in a blog post published yesterday that “certain schools,” such as Stanford, would be displaying outdated logos. However, the Stanford Football Home Screen logo has never been an official program logo. Western Michigan and Jacksonville State also have outdated logos.

“We are aware of an incorrect logo used by EA in College Football 25 in several areas of the game,” Stanford football spokesperson Brian Brownfield told SFGate in an emailed statement. “EA has told us it will address this issue during the first round of patches in approximately two weeks.”

Even though College Football 25 is set to launch worldwide on Friday, several gamers have already played the first college football video game in over a decade. Thanks to three days of early access for those willing to purchase the $100 Deluxe Edition, some reported seeing more than 700,000 players online during the early access period.

However, its initial success has also been met with some issues, most notably a server crash on Monday, which prevented anyone from playing online. Some have reported problems when trying to launch a Dynasty mode, thanks to a “Lorem Ipsum” bug.

College Football 25 launches worldwide on July 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more information, check out our hands-on preview.
