The Treasure Valley is currently experiencing a heat wave and whether we notice it or not, this presents some dangerous conditions… especially for our homes.
One of the most dangerous times of the year.
According to the Western Fire Chiefs Association, we are in the midst of wildfire season, which begins in June and peaks in July/August.
If you didn’t know we’re in one of the most dangerous seasons of the year, the temperatures over the past few weeks have given it away. According to Accuweather, this Thursday (July 25) will be the 16th day out of the last 16 that we’ve hit temperatures in the triple digits or higher. Even then, on those two days that we didn’t hit triple digits, we saw temperatures reach 99 degrees on July 14 and 15.
What’s contributing to Idaho’s dangerous wildfire season?
Now, we’re not here to tell you what to believe and you can trust whoever you want, but according to the Western Fire Chiefs Association:
Idaho wildfires are affected by a variety of risk factors, including climate change and global warming. As temperatures increase due to global warming, it creates drier conditions, which in turn makes vegetation more susceptible to catching fire.
Again, we understand and respect the differing opinions on global warming and while the cause can be debated, there is no doubt that we must take appropriate measures to protect ourselves, our families and of course our homes.
With information from Ada County officials, we are here to share the eleven mistakes Idaho homeowners make that put them at risk for fire.
