Kearns: We must not repeat the mistakes of the past in the Balkans
The chairwoman of the British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Alicia Kearns, said it was unusual for such a large number of foreign policy representatives from different countries to call for not repeating past mistakes in the Balkans.
Ten chairmen of parliamentary foreign affairs committees and 56 MPs have signed a letter calling on the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom to be more critical of Serbian President Alexander Vuçiq over tensions with Kosovo. “It is rare to see so many heads of foreign affairs committees come together to raise their concerns and express a shared commitment to detente. We want to see a Euro-Atlantic path for both Serbia and Kosovo, where minorities are respected and heard,” Kearns wrote on social media. The British MP said: “We need preventive diplomacy, where we make sure there is balance in our relations and we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.”
