The Supreme Court reheard the petition regarding irregularities in the conduct of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET UG) today, Tuesday, June 18.
Regarding the same, he said that even if there was a little negligence on the part of anyone involved in conducting the medical entrance examination, it must be addressed thoroughly. He also noted that students spend a lot of time, sometimes years, studying for this exam.
A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti was hearing two separate petitions listed before it, raising grievances, including grace marks given to students.
“When representing an agency that is responsible for conducting the exam, you have to stand your ground. If there is a mistake, yes, it is a mistake and this is the action we are going to take. At least that inspires confidence in your performance,” he said . the court told the NTA lawyer.
He indicated that the hearing of allegations is open for next July 8.
He said the NTA and the Center would submit their responses to these new petitions within two weeks.
During the hearing on June 13, the Center informed the high court that it would withdraw the grace marks and the 1,563 candidates who were given grace marks will have the option to retake the test.
