When it comes to mastering typing on the iPhone, there are a few gestures that make sending a message or composing a note much more efficient. If you frequently make typos and need to delete text, this gesture will change the way you type, eliminating the need to reach over to backspace.
We’ve already talked about iPhone tricks like the hidden trackpad feature in the past, and that hidden feature works fantastically with this gesture, turning you into the iOS keyboard ninja you’ve always dreamed of.
Here’s how to use an iPhone gesture to quickly undo mistakes.
Swipe with three fingers
The three-finger swipe gesture is an incredibly useful gesture that will change the way you type on your iPhone once you manage to incorporate it into your daily usage patterns. The gesture works, as you would expect, by swiping with three fingers. If you swipe left you undo the entered text and if you swipe right you redo the entered text, so it’s very efficient and a fantastic tool to have in your repertoire.
This gesture may take some getting used to, as it can be awkward to take one hand off your iPhone to swipe. I found this gesture quite difficult to adjust to on larger iPhones like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but once it clicks, you’ll be using it on a daily basis.
Combined with other iPhone tricks like the aforementioned trackpad or tapping the top of the screen to scroll back to the top of a page, you’ll be navigating iOS 17 and the upcoming iOS 18 like a true pro.
iOS 18 will be released later this year for top iPhones, but you can download the iOS 18 beta today and try out the new software. We don’t recommend installing any beta versions on your primary device, and all of these iPhone tricks will work with the new software, so why not put them into practice now before fall arrives?
