As well as being a much-loved star, Minnie Driver has also been linked to some very beloved stars, from Matt Damon to Josh Brolin. While she recently spoke fondly about the romance she had with Damon in the 1990s, she had a different story to tell with her ex-fiancé Brolin.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the The unstoppable Will Hunting The star called marrying Brolin the “biggest mistake of my life.”
“The one time I got engaged, I think it was the biggest mistake of my life,” she said. “If I look at my history, what it did was make me want to get married so badly and then choose men who weren’t the right men to marry. So I kept yearning to get married and have that conservative version (of a relationship), find men who weren’t interested in that and if any of them were, run away.”
For those who need a recap, Driver and Brolin met and fell in love on the set of the 2000 film. Slow burn. They got engaged in 2000, and after six months of engagement, they split in October 2001. They kept their romance fairly private from the public eye, and even today, not much is known about them.
Although they split, Driver eventually found the perfect man for her: writer-director Addison O’Dea. The pair have been dating since 2019, and in the same interview, she gushed about him, saying that he’s basically her perfect match.
“I am now with someone who doesn’t want to get married, but who is the most devoted, loving, extraordinary man… Everything I could have ever wanted in a husband when I was a little girl, he is,” she said.
