Wayne has over 4 million followers on YouTube and runs the Wayne Goss cosmetics site. Last year he launched his First Edition brush collection, which sold out instantly.
She said: “Most of us will use makeup to help enhance our appearance, or even to help cover up some of the wrinkles we have developed over the years.
“However, due to a few mistakes, the makeup we use could actually have the opposite effect and potentially add not just one or two, but up to ten years to our face.”
Here are Wayne’s three steps on what not to do to keep your face looking younger:
1. Avoid metallic eyeshadows
Wayen said: “Avoid metallic eyeshadows and instead opt for a matte one. Matte usually works better because it doesn’t draw attention to creased areas or wrinkles.
“Powder is also easier to apply over creams, especially since it’s easier to blend with a good quality brush.
“Never blend eyeshadow with your fingers – good quality brushes are designed to blend hooded lids and fine lines well.”
2. The type of corrector
Wayne said: “Generally speaking, people can use too light a concealer around the eyes which can add years to the face, so it’s important to get the colour that suits your skin tone.
“It’s always recommended to use cream concealer over liquid concealer, and I highly recommend applying a little on the inner corner of your eye as it’s the only part of your eye that doesn’t crease.”
3. Always hydrate and use a primer
Lastly, Wayne advises: “As we age, our skin will naturally become drier, which is why hydrating ingredients are so important as we age.
“Next time you shop for makeup and skincare products, look for makeup with ingredients like hyaluronic acid to ensure your products keep your skin hydrated.
“Before you start applying anything to your face, make sure you’ve applied a strong moisturizer to ensure your skin stays hydrated.
“Use a good primer before you start applying your makeup to ensure it acts as a barrier between your skin and your makeup and that your makeup stays in the right places all day, rather than just in fine lines.”
